Terms and Conditions for the use of Samaritans Learning Zone

Please read this section carefully as it contains the legal Terms and Conditions that you agree to when you use this training site.

Registration

In order to gain access to the site you have to register and provide certain data to us. When doing this you agree to provide true, accurate and complete information about yourself. You must also maintain and promptly update this information so that it continues to be true, accurate and complete.

Privacy Policy

We take your right to privacy very seriously. Through your registration and use of this site we may collect information from you such as your name, email address and other contact details. None of this information will be transferred to any third parties or commercial agencies. The information that we collect about you will only be used for administrative purposes. Additionally, we may audit and review all information that is on this site, which may include any information that you post to the site, and monitor any use that is made of this site.

Please note that your 'Profile' displays information such as your name, Country and Town which can be viewed by others. Your email address is also contained within your profile information, but you can choose if this is visible to other users by clicking on the Profile>Edit profile tabs

Security Information

You select a username and password at registration and you must ensure that none of this information is disclosed to anyone else. You will be held responsible for all activities which occur when someone is logged in using your username and password. It is also your responsibility to immediately notify us of any unauthorised use of any of your username and password or any other breach of security as soon as you become aware of it.

Confidentiality

This site contains sensitive, copyrighted and/or confidential information. This includes, but is in no way limited to the training materials, and the names and contact details for other volunteers. You must not at any time make any of the materials available to anyone else outside the Samaritans organisation. You must also take all reasonable care to prevent others from gaining unauthorised access. This includes always logging out from Samaritans Training Zone when away from your computer.

Additionally, although you are permitted to print out any of the training materials on this site, you must only use them for your own use or for use with other Samaritans volunteers. They must not be used for commercial purposes or shared with any person other than a Samaritans volunteer without the permission of the author.

Code of Conduct

You are responsible for all use you make of this site and activities you carry out in relation to it. This means that you will be responsible for all information, including text, chat and messages that are publicly posted to the site.

You agree that you will not:

• use this site for any commercial purpose;
• post any content on this site which is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harmful, vulgar, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, racially offensive or material which in our opinion is objectionable;
• post any content on this site that promotes any illegal activity, which includes the provision of instruction for illegal activity;
• post any content on this site which you do not have the right to transmit or use or which infringes any third party's rights;
• impersonate any other person or entity or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity while using the site;
• transmit to this site any material containing software viruses or files designed to damage or disrupt the good working order of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment or that may in any way diminish the quality of or interfere with the performance of this site;
• attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of this site; or
• violate any applicable local or national law or regulation while using this site.

We will be entitled at our discretion to remove anything which is transmitted to, from or via the site or posted on the site which, in our opinion, is objectionable or does not comply with these Terms and Conditions in any way. We cannot accept any liability for doing this.

The contents of this site are copyright of Samaritans 2009. This means that the material on this site is subject to the copyright protection of Samaritans, unless otherwise indicated.

Links Policy

We may provide links to other sites from time to time. These links are provided for your information and convenience only. We do not endorse or take any responsibility for the sites linked to or for the content of those sites.

Accuracy

Whilst care has been taken to ensure that any information on this site is accurate and up-to-date, we do not accept any liability where this is found not to be the case. We do not accept any liability for information posted to this site by third parties. Although great care is taken to check and test all the materials posted online, it is always wise for you to run an anti-virus program on all material downloaded from the site. We do not accept any liability for any loss, disruption or damage to your data or your computer system that may occur as a result of using material derived from this site.

User Restrictions

Where you use this site or permit it to be used in breach of any of these Terms and Conditions, or there's reasonable grounds to suspect that this is the case, Samaritans may at its sole discretion suspend or terminate your access to Samaritans Training Zone and refuse any and all current or future use of the site.

Amendment of these Terms and Conditions

We reserve the right to amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time and without notice to you. Any such amendment will be effective once the revised Terms and Conditions have been published on the site.

Applicable Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and will be construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms and Conditions shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.
